Silverman Joins Plaza III as Executive Chef
Jacksonville, FL (February 14, 2007) Plaza III, The Steakhouse recently hired Chef Mike Silverman as Executive
Chef.
Chef Mike has nearly 13 years experience in the restaurant
business.
For the last two years, he has worked as a personal
chef for clients and restaurants in Peru, Brazil and most recently in San Diego and Los Angeles.
Chef Mike attended the San Diego Culinary Arts School, where he received the highest
grade point average in the school’s history. He also received the Chef Peter Metz Award for Dedication
and a Certificate of Appreciation for Volunteering, Charity and Competition Events.
Prior to attending school, he was executive chef and kitchen manager with Outback Steakhouse
in California and New Jersey. Chef Mike first became a head chef in 1996 while with Sam’s Italian
Seafood in New Smyrna Beach, Florida – a restaurant that received the Star of the South Best All Around Italian Food
Award for six consecutive years.
In his
role with Plaza III, Silverman serves as head chef and kitchen manager for the restaurant.
Locally owned and operated by, restaurant entrepreneur J. Bard McLean, Plaza III was recently ranked Jacksonville’s
top restaurant by a local business publication and is listed among the area’s top 10 restaurants by thebestestaurants.com.
Plaza III originated in Kansas City, Missouri in 1963 and the Jacksonville location is one of only five in the United
States. Plaza III has been recognized as a “Top Ten of America’s Steakhouses” by Zagats,
and has received the Wine Spectator “Award of Excellence.”
Plaza
III opens at 11:30 a.m. on weekdays, serving lunch and dinner, and opens for dinner at 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
